The Career Guidance & Placement Cell of Mangaldai Commerce College in collaboration with the Department of Applied Management of Assam Skill University & Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organised a programme on “Stock Market Awareness” at the college on Thursday, May 15.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of more than 100 students from Class 12 (HSLC) and B. Com programmes from the college. The session aimed to create awareness among students regarding the rapidly expanding logistics and supply chain sector, emerging employment opportunities, industry expectations, and future career pathways in the field.
The event featured Mr. Parag Kashyap, General Manager, Ekart Logistics, North-East Division, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he elaborately discussed the growing scope of the logistics sector in India, current market demands, technological advancements, and the increasing need for skilled professionals in logistics and supply chain management. He also encouraged students to develop industry-relevant skills to meet the demands of the evolving economy.
Professor Juthika Konwar, Head of the Department, Department of Applied Management, Assam Skill University conducted a session with the students highlighting on the course offered by the Department of Applied Management to fulfil the need of Logistics sector of India. The department of Applied Managements runs a Bachelors program on logistics (BBA). She highlighted the importance of strengthening industry-academia linkages and stressed the need for academic institutions to align their courses with the present-day employment ecosystem and industry requirements. The admission portal for admission in BBA program is open and students can apply through the official website www.asu.ac.in
Dr. Runumoni Lahkar Das, Principal of Mangaldai Commerce College, appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Applied Management, Assam Skill University in reaching out to students and informing them about emerging market trends and career opportunities in the logistics sector.
Dr. Dhiren Deka, IQAC Coordinator, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the growing importance of skill-based education in today’s competitive and dynamic economy.
During the programme, students securing top marks from Mangaldai Commerce College were felicitated by Prof. Juthika Konwar in recognition of their academic achievements.
The event also included an interactive question-and-answer session where students actively engaged with the speakers and sought guidance regarding career opportunities, placement prospects, and skill development in the logistics and supply chain industry.
The programme concluded with a positive response from students and faculty members, reinforcing the importance of such collaborative academic-industry initiatives for career awareness and skill development among youth.
