Mangaldai Commerce College, a premier institution of Commerce in the state and the only Commerce College in the Darrang district, was established by some dedicated and noted educationist, in the year 1982. It was possible only due to the aspiration of the people of Darrang, their help and cooperation under the relentless and untiring efforts of a hand of dedicated workers.
The college sprawling scenic ad serene campus spreads over a vast area on the north fringe of the town, at a distance of nearly 1.5 km from the ASTC Bus Stop and easily accessible from the town. Situated in a natura setting the river Mangaldai on the western side, the campus houses several buildings catering to the academic needs and support facilities.
The need of Commerce College was actually felt keeping in mind the fact that a large number of students preferring for commerce education had to go to the commerce colleges which are far away from their places. The Darrang district including the surrounding areas of Assam are industrially fast developing day by day. As such, the need of the hour was a job oriented educational institution. Keeping in view this aspect, with the unlimited efforts of some dedicated people of the college has come to the present position. Meanwhile, the several batches of students had passed out from this college both in Higher Secondary and Degree levels with flying colors since its inception. In the Higher Secondary level besides compulsory subjects’ optional subjects like Economics, Banking, Commercial Mathematics and Statistics, Insurance being offered to the students according to their aptitude. In the Degree course, the college is offering major in Accountancy, Management and Banking besides other compulsory and optional subjects of the commerce stream. The teaching imparted by a team of dedicated teachers who are totally devoted to their duties and responsibilities having all of them a background of brilliant academic career and distinction.
