On 12th June 2025, Mangaldai Commerce College observed "World Day Against Child Labour" with the aim of raising awareness for the prevention of child labor. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has been observing the day since 2002 to draw attention to the issue of child labour and its elimination.
The programme has been organized by the Department of Finance in association with IQAC at the Digital Conference Hall. The event started with a warm welcome address by Dr. Parikshit Barman, Head, Department of Finance. In his inaugural note, Mr. Ranjit Sarma, Principal i/c of Mangaldai Commerce College highlighted the plight of child labour in India as well as in different countries of the world. The resource person, Miss. Gayatri Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Mangaldai College of Commerce, spoke on the various causes of child labour and its cure. She also highlighted the various schemes and laws adopted to eradicate child labour in India and internationally. Mr. Kamaleswar Deka, Assistant Professor, Department of Finance formally offered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the faculty and students of the college for making the event a success.
