The Women Cell in association with IQAC, Mangaldai Commerce College celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 at Mangaldai Commerce College.
A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. Runumani Lahkar Das, Principal of the college and in her keynote address she highlighted the importance of celebration of International Women's Day. Mrs. Minu Bora, Convenor of the Women Cell explained the objectives of the meeting.
Renowned entrepreneur of Mangaldai, Mrs. Moushumi Bhuyan, attended the programme as resource person. In her address, she encouraged the students to support and uplift women by creating opportunities, mentorship, and access to resources. She emphasized that when society provides equal support and opportunities to women, it benefits everyone.
As part of the celebration, a poem-writing competition was also organized among the students.The programme was further enriched with colourful cultural performances presented by the students. In their speech, Mr. Ujjwal Jyoti Saharia, Assistant Professor, Department of BMST and Dr. Ramen Kalita, Assistant Professor, Department of English highlighted the role of women in the society.
At the end Dr. Rinamani Sarmah Bordoloi, HoD, Department of BMST formally offered the vote of thanks to all the members present in the event.
The programme witness commendable response from students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff of the college.
