On 13th October, 2025 the Youth Red Cross Unit, Mangaldai Commerce College in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Unit, Darrang District Branch and Assam State Branch & Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Mangaldai Commerce organized CPR awareness programme on the occasion of CPR Awareness Week from 13th October to 17th October 2025) as per the directives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India. The event witnessed participation of over 70 students, along with faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college.
The Programme started with the welcome address delivered by Mr. Ranjit Sarma, Principal (i/c) of Mangaldai Commerce College. Mr. Sarma highlighted the urgent need to build the capacity among the students and the public to perform CPR. Mr. Dibyajyoti Deka, Master, First Aid Instructor, Guwahati, Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch, who was present as a resource person on the programme. He stressed that the said that life saving is an important emergency procedure that improves survival in case of complicated heart disease. The simple act of hands-only CPR can keep blood flow and oxygen flowing to vital organs until professional help arrives thereby multiplying the chances of survival and also explains CPR rules and presents procedures
The event was hosted by Mr. Kamaleswar Deka, Convener, Youth Red Cross, Mangaldai Commerce College. Finally, Dr. Dhiren Deka, Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College offered formal vote of thanks to the resource person, teachers and students for making the programme a grand success.
