On 5th June 2025, "World Environment Day-2025" has been observed by the Eco Club & IQAC, Mangaldai Commerce College in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Darrang Branch. The event started with the planting of a few saplings by Mr. Ranjit Sarma, principal in charge of the college, to promote afforestation and raise awareness about environmental issues. A day-long workshop on the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution and Impact of Climate Change" is organized in the Digital Conference Hall. Addressing the event as a resource person, Dr. Pranjit Sarma, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, Mangaldai College, demonstrated various harmful effects of using plastic in day-to-day life besides showing the impact of climate change in different countries of the world. Another resource person, Lutfur Zaman, associate professor at Mangaldai Law College, elaborated on the role of the Red Cross Society in providing relief in emergencies and disasters, promoting health and well-being, and working to create a more peaceful and understanding world. Mr. Haren Kakati, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Darrang, formally declared the formation of the Youth Red Cross Unit in Mangaldai Commerce College. Mr. Jayanta Sarma, Treasurer, Indian Red Cross Society, Darrang, initiated the programme and Dr. Dhiren Deka, Coordinator of IQAC, Mangaldai Commerce College, explained the objectives of the workshop. The event witnessed active participation from the faculty members and students, who found the session both insightful and enriching. The workshop ended on a positive note, and a formal vote of thanks was offered by Mr. Hari Chandra Sarma, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Darrang District Branch.
