A Plantation Drive was organized on 5th June, 2026 in the campus of Mangaldai Commerce College on the occasion of World Environment Day. The programme was jointly organized by Sadou Asom Garia Maria Deshi Jatiya Parishad, Mangaldai in collaboration with the Eco Club and IQAC, Mangaldai Commerce College.
The programme commenced with a brief inaugural session where the significance of World Environment Day and the importance of environmental conservation were highlighted. The organizers emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts towards protecting nature and creating a sustainable environment for future generations.
Mr. Babul Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Management of Mangaldai Commerce College welcomed the participants and appreciated the initiative taken by Sadou Asom Garia Maria Deshi Jatiya Parishad, Mangaldai. In her address, she stressed the role of educational institutions in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students.
Members of Sadou Asom Garia Maria Deshi Jatiya Parishad, faculty members, IQAC representatives, Eco Club members, NSS volunteers, and students actively participated in the plantation drive. Various saplings of fruit-bearing, medicinal, and shade-giving trees were planted at different locations within the college campus. Participants also pledged to nurture and protect the planted saplings to ensure their healthy growth.
The programme served as an effective platform to spread awareness regarding environmental protection and the importance of increasing green cover. The active participation and enthusiasm of all stakeholders made the event a meaningful and successful observance of World Environment Day 2026.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all participants, organizers, and volunteers for their valuable contribution towards making the plantation drive a success.
