An awareness programme in the form of a Street Play was successfully organized on 5th June, 2026, at the campus of Mangaldai Commerce College on the occasion of World Environment Day. The programme was jointly organized by Jengrai Group, Mangaldai, Assam in collaboration with the NSS Unit and IQAC of the College. The team also staged the play in 5 different selected location of Darrang district.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students and the faculty members about environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and the importance of protecting natural resources. Through an engaging and thought-provoking street play, the performers highlighted various environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, improper waste disposal, and the need for collective responsibility towards safeguarding the environment.
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Mr. Sabibar Rahman, Programme Officer of the NSS Unit, Mangaldai Commerce College.
The street play attracted the attention of a large number of students, teachers, and staff members along with public. The performers effectively conveyed the message of environmental protection through their impactful acting, dialogues, and creative presentation. The audience appreciated the initiative and actively participated in the awareness campaign.
The programme emphasized the significance of individual and community efforts in maintaining ecological balance and promoting a greener and healthier environment. It also inspired students to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and become responsible environmental citizens.
Dr. Runumoni Lahkar Das, Principal of Mangaldai Commerce College, delivered an enlightening speech on the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development. In her address, she encouraged the students to become active participants in protecting nature and highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting environmental awareness. She also appreciated the efforts of Jengrai Group, the NSS Unit, and IQAC, Mangaldai Commerce College for organizing such a meaningful programme on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a representative of the organizing committee, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, performers, faculty members, students, and all participants for their cooperation and active involvement. The awareness programme was a great success and served as an effective platform for spreading the message of environmental responsibility and sustainable living among the youth and the community.
