One Day Orientation Programme on Internship

Mangaldai Commerce College organized a One-Day Orientation Programme on Internship for the B.Com. 5th Semester students on 18th June 2025 at the Conference Hall of the college. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the Internship Guidelines for Undergraduate Students issued by Gauhati University and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The programme commenced with an inaugural speech delivered by Mr. Ranjit Sarma, Principal (i/c), Mangaldai Commerce College. In his address, he emphasized the importance of internship as an integral component of undergraduate education and highlighted its role in providing students with practical exposure and professional experience.
Dr. Dhiren Deka, Nodal Officer, Internship Cell and Coordinator, IQAC, elaborately discussed the background and objectives of the Internship Programme. He explained the various suggested sectors for internship, along with the evaluation process and credit-transfer procedure associated with the programme. His session provided students with a clear understanding of the academic requirements and procedures to be followed during their internship.
Dr. Rinamani Sarma Bordoloi, Convenor, Research and Development Cell, highlighted the certification process and explained the importance of obtaining the necessary documentation upon successful completion of the internship.
Mr. Ujjwal Jyoti Saharia, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC and Member, Internship Cell, initiated the programme and drew the attention of the students to various institutions and organizations where they could opt for internship opportunities. He encouraged students to select internship areas relevant to their academic interests and future career aspirations.
Mr. Safi Ahmed Humayun Qureshi, Member, Internship Cell, highlighted the important roles and responsibilities of internship supervisors and mentors. He explained how proper guidance and regular interaction with supervisors and mentors could help students derive maximum benefit from their internship experience. He also proposed the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, resource persons, faculty members, and students for their active participation and cooperation.
The orientation programme was informative and beneficial for the students, as it provided them with comprehensive knowledge about the objectives, guidelines, selection of internship sectors, supervision, evaluation, certification, and credit-transfer procedures. The programme successfully created awareness among the students and prepared them to undertake their internship in a systematic and meaningful manner.
