The Department of Accountancy, Mangaldai Commerce College, celebrated Commerce Day on 30 May 2025 to commemorate the 102nd Death Anniversary of Sadagar Bholanath Borooah, a pioneering figure who made significant contributions to the field of trade and commerce in Assam.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Ujjwal Jyoti Saharia, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC, Mangaldai Commerce College, who extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, and participants gathered for the occasion.
The inaugural address was delivered by Mr. Ranjit Sarma, Principal (i/c), Mangaldai Commerce College. In his address, he highlighted the remarkable contributions of Sadagar Bholanath Borooah to the development of trade and commerce and emphasized the relevance of his vision and entrepreneurial spirit in the contemporary context.
The programme was graced by distinguished guests from the fields of journalism, academia, and social entrepreneurship. Mr. Bhargab Kumar Das, Senior Journalist, The Sentinel, and Mr. Biswajit Deka, Founder, Zengrai Group, Mangaldai, Darrang, Assam, attended the programme and enriched the occasion with their presence and valuable insights.
The celebration provided an opportunity for the students and members of the college community to reflect upon the contributions of Bholanath Borooah and to appreciate the importance of commerce, entrepreneurship, and professional excellence in the socio-economic development of society.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Satarupa Devi, Head, Department of Accountancy, Mangaldai Commerce College, who expressed her gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and all those associated with the successful organization of the event.
The Commerce Day celebration was a meaningful and inspiring occasion that commemorated the legacy of Sadagar Bholanath Borooah while encouraging students to develop an entrepreneurial outlook and contribute meaningfully to the field of commerce and economic development.
