The Student Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students of B.Com. (FYUGP) 1st Semester, Deeksharambh–2026, was organized by the authority of Mangaldai Commerce College on 10th August 2026. The programme was conducted with the objective of familiarizing the newly admitted students with the academic environment, rules and regulations, facilities, support systems, and various aspects of college life.
The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. in Hall No. 2 of the college. The programme was anchored by Mr. Ujjwal Jyoti Saharia, IQAC Coordinator, Mangaldai Commerce College who welcomed the gathering and delivered an introductory note highlighting the significance of the orientation programme in helping newly admitted students understand the academic and institutional environment of the college.
Thereafter, Dr. Runumoni Lahkar Das, Principal, Mangaldai Commerce College; Dr. Parikshit Barman, Nodal Officer, SAMARTH and all the faculty members of the college were invited to take their seats on the dais.
Dr. Runumoni Lahkar Das, Principal of the College delivered the welcome address. She warmly welcomed the newly admitted students and motivated them to pursue academic excellence, develop a positive attitude towards learning, and maintain discipline, sincerity, and commitment throughout their college life. She also encouraged the students to make effective use of the academic and infrastructural facilities available in the college.
Following the welcome address, Mr. Ujjwal Jyoti Saharia, IQAC Coordinator, briefed the students about the rules and regulations of the college, the academic environment and the various facilities and opportunities available to them. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and actively participating in academic, co-curricular, and institutional activities.
Dr. Parikshit Barman, Nodal Officer, SAMARTH, addressed the students and provided valuable information regarding academic procedures, the SAMARTH portal and various student support systems available in the college. His interaction helped the newly admitted students gain a better understanding of the academic and administrative processes associated with their undergraduate programme.
Mrs. Minu Bora, Convenor, Academic Monitoring Committee, delivered a brief but significant address emphasizing the importance of regular attendance, punctuality, classroom discipline, and active participation in academic activities. She encouraged the students to attend classes regularly and to take their academic responsibilities seriously.
Thereafter, all the faculty members of the college interacted with the newly admitted students and briefed them about their respective departments, subjects, academic expectations, classroom practices and the importance of maintaining regular communication with teachers. The faculty members also encouraged the students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities and to make the best possible use of the resources and opportunities provided by the college.
The orientation programme provided an effective platform for the newly admitted students to become acquainted with the academic, administrative, and institutional environment of Mangaldai Commerce College. It helped the students understand their responsibilities as undergraduate learners and familiarized them with the opportunities and support systems available to them during their academic journey under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Ujjwal Jyoti Saharia, IQAC Coordinator. He expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members and all those associated with the successful organization of the programme, as well as to the newly admitted students for their active participation. The programme formally came to an end at 12:30 p.m.
Overall, Deeksharambh–2026 was successfully organized and served as a meaningful, informative, and welcoming beginning to the academic journey of the newly admitted B.Com. (FYUGP) 1st Semester students of Mangaldai Commerce College. The programme effectively introduced the students to the academic culture, institutional practices, responsibilities, facilities, and opportunities of the college and helped them begin their undergraduate journey with greater confidence and clarity.
