Quiz Competition as part of the Celebration of World Tourism Day – 2026

A Quiz Competition was organised at Mangaldai Commerce College on 16th September 2026 as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day – 2026. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about tourism, promoting interest in the tourism sector, and encouraging knowledge, curiosity, analytical thinking and a healthy spirit of competition among the participants.
The quiz competition was organised by the Department of Tourism, Assam Skill University, Mangaldai, Darrang, Assam in association with the Quiz Club and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mangaldai Commerce College.
Before the commencement of the competition, Dr. Shapna Medhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism, Assam Skill University, Darrang, Assam briefly introduced the participants to Assam Skill University and highlighted its role in promoting skill-based and industry-oriented education. She also spoke about the relevance of tourism education and skill development in enhancing employment and career opportunities in the tourism sector. Following the introductory session, she formally initiated the quiz competition.
The Preliminary Round commenced at 12:30 PM at the Digital Conference Hall, Mangaldai Commerce College. A total of nine teams participated in the competition. The quiz provided an engaging platform for students to test and enhance their knowledge of tourism and allied areas. The questions covered various aspects of tourism, including cultural heritage, tourist destinations, local communities, tourism-related activities and the contribution of tourism to economic development.
The programme served as an effective learning experience for the participating students and helped promote awareness about the importance and potential of the tourism sector. It also encouraged students to develop their general knowledge, analytical thinking, quick decision-making abilities and competitive spirit.
Following the completion of the Preliminary Round, two students from Mangaldai Commerce College were selected to participate in the Final Round of the Quiz Competition. The Final Round is scheduled to be held on 25th September 2026 at Assam Skill University, Darrang, Assam as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day – 2026.
The collaboration between the Department of Tourism, Assam Skill University and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mangaldai Commerce College, reflected a shared commitment towards promoting experiential learning, skill-oriented education and meaningful student engagement through academic and co-curricular activities.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the organizers and participating students for their active involvement and contribution towards making the World Tourism Day – 2026 celebration informative, engaging and educational.
