Mangaldai Commerce College proudly celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026 with great patriotic spirit, solemn remembrance and a deep sense of national pride.
The programme commenced at 7:30 AM with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, performed by Dr. Runumoni Lahkar Das, Principal, Mangaldai Commerce College. The unfurling of the National Flag was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and unity among the college community.
Thereafter, the Principal addressed the gathering of students, faculty members and staff. In her address, she highlighted the significance of Independence Day and reminded everyone of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the independence of the nation. She encouraged the students to uphold the values of unity, responsibility, discipline, integrity and patriotism and to contribute positively towards the progress and development of the country.
As part of the observance, the college community also paid tribute to the victims and survivors of the Partition of India through Partition Horrors Remembrance. A Wall Magazine highlighting the painful memories, struggles and sacrifices associated with the Partition was displayed on the college campus and was formally inaugurated by the Principal.
The programme was further enriched by the screening of a short film dedicated to the memories, hardships and sacrifices associated with the Partition of India. The screening provided an opportunity for students and members of the college community to reflect upon the tragic consequences of Partition and the importance of peace, harmony, unity and communal understanding.
The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment among the members of the college community to uphold the ideals of freedom, democracy, national unity and social responsibility. The programme successfully combined the celebration of India's independence with a meaningful remembrance of the nation's difficult past.
