Celebration of 53rd Birth Anniversary of the legendary singer Zubeen Garg

On 18th November 2025, the Students’ Union of Mangaldai Commerce College, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mangaldai Commerce College, observed the 53rd Birth Anniversary of legendary singer Zubeen Garg with great enthusiasm and reverence. The programme was organized to commemorate the life, musical legacy, and immense contributions of the iconic artist to Assamese music and culture.
The programme commenced with the Mangaldai Commerce College family paying a heartfelt tribute to Zubeen Garg, remembering his remarkable contribution to the cultural and musical landscape of Assam. The tribute reflected the deep admiration and affection of the college community for the legendary singer.
As a part of the commemoration, Mr. Ranjit Sarma, Principal (i/c), and Dr. Hemanta Chakravarty, Head of the Department of Management, planted several saplings on the college campus. The plantation programme symbolized the college community’s commitment to preserving nature and creating a lasting tribute to the memory of the celebrated artist.
A wall magazine titled “Gane Ki Ane” was also inaugurated by Mr. Ranjit Sarma, Principal (i/c), on the occasion. The wall magazine provided a creative platform for students to express their thoughts and artistic appreciation of Zubeen Garg’s contribution to music and culture.
In addition to the activities held at the college, a blood donation camp was organized at Gandhi Maidan, Mangaldai, in collaboration with the Zubeen Garg Mangaldai Fan Club, as part of the observance of the 53rd Birth Anniversary of the iconic artist. The initiative added a meaningful social dimension to the celebration by encouraging voluntary blood donation and community service.
The programme successfully combined remembrance, cultural expression, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. The celebration served as a fitting tribute to Zubeen Garg and highlighted the enduring influence of his music and contribution to Assamese society and culture.
